A poetry festival is a room for exploration, where international poetry meets Danish poetry in front of a Danish audience.
A festival of this kind sets a scene, where limits are to be challenged: The Danish literature can be exchanged with the international when poets and their readers meet.
Denmark has gotten it's first international poetry festival. We hope that the company of international writers will be a stimulating experience for the Danish literary scene and vice versa. And this annual event will help to put Denmark on the map of world literature.
Literaturhaus, with it's organisation and facilities, is a natural meeting point for such a festival. But a poetry festival must especially be out going and take advantage of the city as an open space for spreading the poetry in Copenhagen. An out going and active poetry can attract a new audience from the different neighbourhoods.
The festival will bring a lot of different poetic expressions, languages and traditions together, just like it will speak to many different audiences and cooperative relations. You can check out the programme here.
Furthermore we aim to present writers from a least four different continents - at the first festival we were able to present 27 writers from five different continents.
The festival cooperates with the well established international poetry festival in Malmö, Poesidagarna.

Danish version:
En poesifestival er et levende forum, hvor international poesi møder dansk poesi og et dansk publikum.
