It is a show that will undoubtedly be recommended by everyone who has seen it
(and if I may say so: 6 Christmas stars from me).
A Timeless Story for All Generations
Based on the beloved film, It’s a Wonderful Life tells the inspiring story of George Bailey and his journey toward self-awareness. Set against the backdrop of Christmas, this uplifting story focuses on love, resilience, and the strength of community – a timeless reminder of what truly matters during the holiday season.
Step into the magical world of It’s a Wonderful Life, where warmth and hope blend into an unforgettable theater experience. On stage, we meet George Bailey, a man from the small town of Bedford Falls, who has always put others before himself. But when life takes an unexpected turn, George finds himself on the brink of a breakdown on Christmas Eve.
A special angel, Clarence, is sent to show him how the world would have been without him. Through humor, drama, and moments of reflection, George discovers the deep meaning of his life and the value of love and community.
This touching production is a tribute to the connections we create and the small actions that make a big difference. With a cast that brings the characters to life and a story that speaks to the heart, It’s a Wonderful Life is a theater experience that will fill you with warmth and joy this holiday season.
A Cozy and Unique Experience
Experience a show full of quirky directorial notes and unique, creative audience involvement that makes every evening special.
Inspired by the British Christmas Pantomime, It’s a Wonderful Life features top-level improvisation.
Behind the fun antics, the story stays true to its core: George Bailey, a man who has always put others’ needs before his own dreams. But at the start of the story, George has lost faith in the idea that his efforts have made any difference.
If you’re part of the crowd who always attends Crazy Christmas Cabaret at Tivoli, make sure to add this hidden gem of a show to your to-do list this year.
A story best told at LiteraturHaus.
“It’s a Wonderful Life remains timeless because its themes of love, family, and community are just as important today as ever,” says Jeremy M. Thomas-Bøgsted, Artistic Director of LiteraturHaus.
“At LiteraturHaus, we strive to be a cultural hub – a place where people from all backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life can come together to share stories that connect and inspire. This narrative fits perfectly with our mission and reminds us that our actions can have a profound impact on others.”
Jeremy continues: “Although the story was written in 1939, its use of framing – a story within a story – adds layers of emotion that still deeply resonate with audiences, even in our busy modern world. It’s a form often overlooked, but when done right, it captivates the audience, just think of Titanic or Forrest Gump. Added to that is an imperfect, relatable protagonist like George Bailey, who evokes empathy in the audience, along with a cast of strong supporting characters with unique traits that enhance both the humor and the heart of the story. Together, these elements create a rich and engaging experience that the audience will remember long after the curtain falls.”
